ABOUT Hacienda
Hacienda Palancar is an island-like, 86-acre luxury retreat bordered by the Caribbean Sea and Chunyaxche Lagoon, inside the 1.3 million-acre Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site. Geographically, Hacienda Palancar is situated on the Yucatan Peninsula in the Mexican State of Quintana Roo and municipality of Tulum. From the international airport in Cancun, Hacien- da Palancar is a two-hour drive south, through Playa del Carmen and Tulum, part of the Riviera Maya corridor. Boca Paila is a transition area at the mouth of the Chunyax- che Lagoon that feeds into the Caribbean Sea. Hacienda Palancar is bordered to the west by the expansive lagoon to the west and by the Caribbean to the east. Calle Boca Paila is the road leading in and out of the Reserve, crossing the bridge at Boca Paila just south of Hacienda Palancar. This municipal road is made of decomposed, crushed limestone and coral, and graded twice a year. There is a security checkpoint in the Reserve and a gated entrance at Hacienda Palancar with staff to grant access. Calle Boca Paila con- nects Hacienda Palancar to Tulum and Carretera Transpe- ninsular (307), a regional highway that traverses the Rivie- ra Maya corridor north to Cancun and south to Quintana Roo’s capital city of Chetumal, along Mexico’s border with Belize. Master Building
The single-story Master building measures approximately 1,606 square feet (with an additional 1,783 square feet of covered terrace space) and is situated at the north end of the estate, connected by pasillo to the adjacent Living Room building. Twenty-foot beamed ceilings and built-in bookcases create a tasteful space with tall, arched French doors that open to the east and west with wrap-around verandas that provide cool breezes. In addition to the beautiful master suite, two secondary bedrooms are domed with skylights and are visible as castle-like turrets from outside. Both of the secondary bedrooms have tiled bathrooms and separate entrances. There are two outdoor showers on the ground floor.
